Bristol Public Library

Library Selected as Local Pick on AgeWell Across Connecticut Tour

The Bristol Public Library has been recognized for its efforts to prioritize inclusivity and accessibility for aging residents, people with disabilities, and those with dementia, by the Connecticut Age Well Collaborative, as part of our state’s livable communities initiative. In the next few weeks CT residents will be encouraged to visit stops on the AgeWell Across Connecticut tour to coincide with Disabilty Awareness Month. The library was specifically nominated due to its status as only one of nine public libraries in Connecticut designated as a hub for CTLABS, The Connecticut Library for Accessible Books. CTLABS, which is a program of the Library of Congress Library, provides materials to blind and visually impaired patrons through free braille and audio resources.

The Connecticut Age Well Collaborative is a statewide, cross-sector initiative that fosters aging, dementia and disability-inclusive communities. The Collaborative is an initiative of Connecticut Community Care and is delegated by the Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity & Opportunity (Section 17b-420a of the Connecticut General Statutes).
